Recipe FAQs

What fruits are used to make the penguin shapes?

Seedless black grapes form the bodies, strawberries the bellies, mandarin orange segments the feet, blueberries the heads, and banana slices secure the base.

How can I attach the eyes to the fruit?

Use a small dab of honey or nut butter to stick mini chocolate chips or black sesame seeds onto the blueberry heads as eyes.

Are there alternatives for the beaks?

Small carrot triangles are typical, but you can substitute with tiny orange sprinkles or omit them altogether.

Can these skewers accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes, the skewers are vegetarian and gluten-free. Use maple syrup instead of honey for a vegan option and be mindful of potential allergens like nuts and dairy if dips are served.

What are good substitutes for seasonal or allergy concerns?

Kiwi slices can replace the strawberry bellies, and apple segments are good alternatives for the mandarin orange feet.
